Beauty According to the Movies
Hollywood defines beauty with the likes of Lauren Bacall, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp… but that’s easy. It’s been said time and again, “…a picture paints a thousand words”. But how do people in the movies marvel at beauty (or the lack of it)? Here are some quotes from popular flicks:
American Beauty “… it’s hard to stay mad when there’s so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I’m seeing it all at once, and it’s too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that’s about to burst …”
Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s “I’ve got to do something about the way I look. I mean a girl just can’t go to Sing Sing with a green face.”
The Breakfast Club “there are two kinds of fat peopl
e: there’s fat people that were born to be fat, and there’s fat people that were once thin but became fat… so when you look at ‘em you can sorta see that thin person inside”
Casablanca “Here’s looking at you, kid.” “Here’s looking at you, kid.”
Keeping the Faith “God was showing off when he made you”
Before Sunset “You can never replace anyone because everyone is made up of such beautiful specific details”.
