Crime-Free Fashion

While it is undeniably important to make sure you don’t murder fashion, it is of equal importance that you don’t end up a fashion victim. Before rushing off to replicate Angelina’s latest do or to get dressed in Paris Couture Fall 2008, here are some things to keep in mind:

1.    Know which hair styles suit the shape of your face. Exposing a perfectly round face with cropped up locks amounts to over-exposure while framing a small and oval face with lengthy bangs or a massive and wavy style obscures your features.

2.    Know your body, love your skin tone. This doesn’t exactly require one to be excessively figure-conscious or to measure skin tone against any specific scale. This simply means being conscious of the cuts and hues of the clothes you put on. Choose the clothes you wear based on what accentuates your figure and complexion, not what looks great on the shop mannequin. The same idea goes if you want to change the shade of your hair. Golden hair highlights does not actually compliment a chocolate brown face.

3.    Despite the fact that ‘Knowing where you are’ doesn’t exactly sound like fashion advice, but recognizing your immediate environment is actually necessary. Some women sacrifice comfort for fashion and are adamant to wear woollen boots and trench coats despite the apparent tropical weather. Braving the wet city sidewalks and the crowded Metro in stilettos bears a serious risk of spraining your ankles, if wading on open shoes does not seem stupid enough.

Essentially, all boils down to this- to look your best, you should be comfortable with what you look like and base your fashion decisions on your own appearance. Always, always choose comfort over fashion. Remember, a lady who keeps tugging at her dress isn’t exactly the epitome of being stylish.
